About This Blog

I started this blog in July 2017 as a place to share my journey of making our first house a home on a budget. In early 2017 I realized that I could buy more house than I could rent, and because I'm your average millennial (you know, the whole the-rent-is-too-damn-high, soul-crushing student debt kinda thing), the places I could afford within my budget needed a little TLC. I quickly learned that in the Denver market the best investment would be to live in the place and put in a little sweat equity. So I bought the place and got to work! This is the place I share my tips, tricks, and thoughts during this process.

I'm the daughter of a construction worker and was raised in a home where my dad would have me help him out as he did handyman things around the house, so I figured I could put my early apprenticeship to the test and do projects as time and budget permitted to bring my place up to date. Since it got to the point that the amount of text on my Facebook post was obnoxious, it seemed like the next logical step to move things over to a blog and thus, Kimiecraft was born.

Do you like the ideas you see on Pinterest, HGTV, and home improvement blogs, but don't have thousands of dollars? Then this blog is for you.

Are you inspired by some of the projects you see but want to know if it's something your average person with absolutely no formal training can DIY? Yup, this is the blog for you.

Are you ready? Let's go!
